The Loughton Davis Family moved to MS in the 1830s.  They
settled in Smith County but soon moved to Covington County.  It
appears that they were close to the town named Williamsburg.
Several family members are buried in the Old Williamsburg
Cemetery.  Loughton Davis was a large land owner/farmer.
Do you have information on any of these family groups?  Please, contact me...

Do you have old family pictures
of our Davis and related family
members...Please, let me know.
I would love to get a copy for my
files.  Thanks!
We had a great 2009 Reunion with
T-Shirts from Karrie Samford.  They
were blue and read the 10th Annual
Davis Reunion.  The reunion was
held in the Community Center at
Sanford, MS.  We will continue to
use that location in 2010.  They
have lots of room and it would be
great to see many more of our
cousins.
Our program was by
June Ellis.  She
talked about work
being done at the
Old Williamsburg
Cemetery
The Grandson of Toxie
and Paulette Crosby gave
us some smiles...  Always
great to see children
having a good time!
Vondell Guthrie (L) with the Mother
of our speaker.  Vondell is involved
with the Covington County Historical
Society.
(Front to Back)  Pam Davis, Iris
Fairchild, J. D. Davis and Kelly
Mooney.
Kelly and Arnold Mooney...  She
is related to the Davis Family thru
the Napier line.  Allen Andrew
Davis married Cappietolla Napier.
Rosetta Napier was a sister and I
think that is the connection.
There was a lot of interest in
some new information about
Cappietolla Napier's Mother.
Howard "Dempsey" Davis (L) The girl
next to him is Brooklyn.  She was a
baby at our first reunion...
NOW 10!
In plain view,
those Davis
Reunion T-Shirts.
(far side of table) Karrie Samford with
her Dad, Harvey Hemphill...(near side
of table) Karrie's sister, Jo Ann and her
Mother, Sandra Davis Hemphill.  This
is the first reunion that Sandra has
been able to attend.  Glad to see her!
(Right side of table-front to back)  Jackie Davis, son of
Wannell (across from him) and L. E. Davis.  His first
reunion!  Wanda and Chris Rawlings with their son
across from them.  This year, we lost L. E. Davis.  He was
missed!  This family hosted one of our early reunions.
June Ellis did a great job with our
program...  How would you like to
speak to a group with a full belly
and on a Sun. during nap time?
One of our great family story tellers died in 2009...Minnie Hall Davis.  She was 96 and told Pam and I lots of family
history.  Minnie's Dad was in the War Between the States.  His name was Doc Hall.  Minnie and her sister, Janie, married
Davis brothers.  Her husband was Samp and Janie's husband was Pick.  Minnie attended most of our reunions.  I used
to pick on her about being lucky enough to marry into the Davis Family.  Minnie was a very sweet person!  We started
the DAVIS BUZZ in 1997 and Minnie provided most of the family history and pictures.
normdavis.org is the offical
newsletter of our line of the
Davis Family.  The DAVIS
BUZZ is now on the Internet
and no longer being mailed.  I
started mailing the BUZZ in
November, 1997 and have
copies on file.  If you would
like previous copies, contact
me because I have extra
copies of most newsletters.
June Ellis working on a
Confederate Marker for Allan
Stewart Davis.  He died in 1865
after serving in the War Between
the States as a Lt.  The
government agency where she has
to submit the information lost her
first application and she had to
send it again.  The problem is that
the program is ending for those
markers.  June is a part of the
project at the Old Williamsburg
Cemetery restoration where he is
buried.
